    The insurance companies are regulated by the state insurance department. This applies to all insurance companies irrespective of whether they are general insurance or life insurance companies

    in America, each state has its own insurance regulatory commission, so auto insurance is regulated by the states, yes.

    Yes. Each state has an "insurance department" which regulates ALL insurance sold in that state, including car insurance.
